Calling truckers
Join truckers on the road to victory hopes

Apr 26 2005

Helen Logan, Evening Gazette

A Middlesbrough haulage firm is vying to be named the UK's brightest new
business in an annual search to find and celebrate the best start-up
companies and the entrepreneurs who run them.

Mitchell Trucking, started by director Gordon Mitchell just over a year ago,
joins a host of firms less than three years old competing for the coveted
title of HSBC Start-Up Star 2005 and the 20,000 winner's cheque.

Simon Wainwright, head of small business at HSBC Bank, said: "There's still
time for other entrepreneurs in the region to tell us why they have what it
takes to be named one of the UK's most promising new business talents. You
don't have to be running the biggest or fastest growing firm but it should
be the kind of business that others can look to for inspiration."

Entries close on Friday . All companies less than three years old - whatever
their size and turnover - can submit a nomination.

Ten national finalists - to be named in July - will share cash and prizes
worth 65,000, including 20,000 for the winner and 5,000 for the
runner-up. Each finalist will also win consultancy services and software
worth 4,000 from Croner Consulting and Intuit.

The winner and runner-up will be announced at a dinner on October 13 in
London.

Entry forms for the awards are available from HSBC branches or online at
www.ukbusiness.hsbc.com.
