My experiment for fellow compers
Posted 2 postcards to myself on Sunday, 17th April - one 1st class, the other 2nd.

The 1st class postcard arrived yesterday, Monday, 18th April and the 2nd class arrived today, 19th April.

Bang goes the myth that both 1st class and 2nd class POSTCARDS are treated the same.

Thanks for that, Tina. I always thought that the rumour about postcards
being treated the same was rubbish, but I've heard since that you may
as well send everything 2nd class, as 1st and 2nd all get sent within
the expected 'about a day' time. So it's good to know that my Costco
stocking up of 1st class stamps wasn't wasted.

(and incidentally - thank you to whoever it was who alerted us to the
Costco stamp deal recently!)

Re: My experiment for fellow compers
Actually, you're wrong, both arrived 1st class. 1st class is a 1-2 day
delivery aim.

Technically, you should have got them both on Tuesday or Wednesday, as
Sunday is not classed as a working day - they are just collected from main
post boxes. More than likely your first card was processed at 12:01 on
Monday morning and delivered that morning and the other one was processed
later during Monday when the second shift came on. Both were seperated in
the mail centre, yes, but they still arrived within the 1st class delivery
aim perimeters.

Here endeth the lesson on how the post system works.

So it's not worth using a 1st class stamp on a postcard then?

It's up to you. Me - I never send anything by first class, but I'm a tight
