Ebay have pulled the above auction : had this today....

Thank you to everyone for participating in my daft auction for
"nothing".  It was fun while it lasted and I'm sure we brought a smile
to the faces of many.

Unfortunately, eBay don't seem to have a sense of humour and have
cancelled the auction.  They say it contravenes their rules as you are
not allowed to sell something which is "intangible"

i quite enjoyed the questions from buyers, some truely mad people out 
there... and i thought i was mad!!! now realise i am only slightly insane in 
comparison.

He was in our local paper last night. His mate was auctioning the old rope. 
Turns out the rope came from the 1st Norwich Sea Scouts Group which I'm 
secretary of and we will get any money raised from the auction
