Threat to Historic Cardiff Pub.
Picked this up from the BBC website, it seems that the developers of
the St. Davids 2 shopping center in Cardiff want the land that the
Vulcan stands on for parking. I like Brains' reply;
But the brewery which owns the pub said it has no intention of selling
up.
Isabelle Whitehouse, from SA Brain, said: "The Vulcan is one of our
oldest pubs and is very popular with the locals. We have not been
approached by anyone with an offer to purchase the building and so have
no intention of selling it. As far as we are concerned, it is very
much business as usual."
No if only we could get brains in Denver....

A similar thing happened in Coventry. The Town Wall Tavern is now a listed
building, the multi-storey was built 100 yards away, and the pub has a
slight extension (oh and some housing association property at the side to
provide a few extra customers :-)
