Tiled floor over wooden floor boards
Can anyone offer me any advice please on the best way to lay floor tiles
onto a wooden floor (floor boards). The other issue i have is that it is in
the kitchen in a first floor flat and the washing machine almost shakes the
place down when it goes into a spin, will this be a problem with the grout
on the floor tiles. Should i hard board it or ply board it.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Lay at least 12mm wbp plywood screwed to the floor at 150mm centres each
way. Use a flexible adhesive such as Bal single part flexible or other
manufacturer suitable for plywood (not all adhesives are). The plywood may
need to have a primer applied first depending on the adhesive used. Always
read the manufacturer's instructions.

Now, why do you want ceramic tiles on a floor in a flat? Because fixing
cermic floor tiles requires a firm sub-base, you could have a problem with
impact sound transmission, which your neighbours will really love (not). Why
not go for a more friendly surface such as Amtico? I used that in my
bathroom. Looks great, (just like a laminate floor), easy to keep clean and
is not hard or cold to walk on, and will not be so easily damaged as tiles
if you drop a pot on it. Ok, it is more expensive (around 60m2 laid) but
unless we're talking big kitchen, the costs should not be prohibitive.

Or even Karndean, Amtico's cheaper bro.
