light fitting
I am trying to wire a new light fitting. I made the stupid mistake of not
noting which wire went where when I disconnected the old rose. The problem
is, there are two cable coming out of the ceiling. When I join the reds
together and the blacks together on the new fitting, the light comes on but
blows the fuse when I turn it off! If I leave a black out of the equation, I
cannot turn the light off.
PLEASE HELP!!

Its not always just a matter of connecting like for like - If you've got
some web space and a digital camera and can post some pics on a website Im
sure someone will offer some specific advice.

connect 2 reds in connector block (not the light fitting itself), one black
is a neutral the other will be switched live. this should work ok.
