Stupid Emails
Why would a nice friend send me that email that requires me to spam
other friends and threatens years of bad luck if I don't forward it
within 5 minutes, but a sudden great good fortune if I do? I HATE
getting them! It raises my hackles. I can't think of 15 people who
wouldn't STRONGLY object to getting this either because they'd think
it's rubbish or because, like me, they'd like to think it's rubbish, but
there's a knot of childish superstition in the back of their minds. How
come everyone who's forwarded it previously can rustle up so many
likeminded people? I have four persistent forwarders of these things,
but I don't want to encourage them.

I've studiously ignored these things for years, and now I realise that
I've had a run of really lousy luck that coincides with this.

There! I've dithered and my five minutes is up. I'm doomed! Doomed!

I started getting those from a cousin in BC. She won't reply to
my emails asking her why she would do that to me.

I'm too late, Kezzi. But thanks! My telephone won't be ringing in under
50 minutes, with news of an unexpected huge inheritance, now, and my
best friend won't be standing on my doorstep either.

I can't think of anything more pointless than sending something
to you just to have you bin it.
