All too busy out shooting?
V. quiet in here.

First shoot of season on Monday: let day 200 birds. Dry, overcast, not a
breath of wind: could we persuade them to fly? Answer, as it turned out,
was 'yes' but often not in the right direction! On one drive peg 1
filled his boots (had and needed his other half as loader), 2 got a few
and the rest had only a few ducks. Still, by the end of the day they
shot 214 and were very happy as the 'pound seats' had been fairly
distributed!

All in all a great day out and nice to see friends I hadn't seen since
Jan 30th!

Only as part of the faithful team of beaters. As an impecunious country
parson I expect a whole season's shooting for &570, not just a day
(however good!). However, the shoot-owner is very generous with his
beaters' days so my gun comes out at the end of the season.
