Smart work by VXC Train Manager catches fare dodger!
A fare dodger spent two nights in custody and ended up with a fine,
court costs and a compensation order after he gave false details to a
VXC Train Manager.
The T.M. ascertained that he had given a false address and police were
waiting to arrest him at Exeter St Davids. See

Can anyone advise if this "postcode checking software" is loaded onto
the VXC T.M.'s Avantix PDAs, or does he/she have to ring a shore base
to check the address?

I believe there is a national helpline which guards/conductors can ring.
They do not give out any information (data protection act) but simply give a
yes/no confirmation of the details given by the suspected fare-dodger.
