458s for Silverlink County

Wednesday, September 8: BRAND new luxury trains worth a total 24
million, that have been discarded by a rail operator who experienced
running problems, are to be introduced on the local Silverlink route
next June.
Fears are emerging this could add to the woes of passengers travelling
between Tring and Euston, who already face major disruption when the new
timetable comes in on Monday September 27.
Only four trains an hour will run in peak periods compared with the five
currently in operation.
The new rail schedule has been forced after a 7 billion upgrade of the
west coast route - but only long-distance operator Virgin Train will
benefit because Silverlink is to be confined to fewer slow lanes.
"The upgrade was largely to recover lost long-distance business by
allowing Virgin to run faster trains at 125mph," said Silverlink
spokesman Graham Bashford.
"We have lost capacity on the track and are doing the very best we can
in the circumstances to provide a service as equal to the previous one
as we can," he added.
Hopes that the new Tring turn-a-round would boost the service have been
dashed and one peak-hour morning train from Dacorum stations to Euston
has been wiped from the schedule altogether. Almost all other services
from all stations will run at different times from September 27.

The only thing that I can think of is that its 458s, anyone know if 458s
are to move to Silverlink County?

Probably, I'm just glad that I have left the area before they come into
use (if they are coming in at all?)

This sounds like the 350s, which were originally part of an order for SWT,
but changed to the 350 spec before construction. Among their uses will be
peak Euston - Tring stoppers, as they have better acceleration than a 321,
and so will make it easier to timetable a mix of stopping and fast trains on
the Slow Lines.
