Station names listing at Wikipedia
I know that the list of British railway stations and their 3-letter codes is
often requested on uk.railway, and I have found an article on Wikipedia
which reproduces the list. It is split into 24 sections, one for each
letter, with no X or Z.
There are links to the Wikipedia article on each station (where it exists)
and also a map link via the postcode, National Rail station information, and
link to the live departure board.
Start at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UK_railway_stations_-_A
Now, a request:
Wikipedia is a free-content encyclopedia which anyone can edit. Please
consider spending a few minutes expanding the article on your local or
favourite station. No article? Then start a new one!
Also desperately needed are images. Photographs of the stations, old or
modern, it matters not. If you have a photo please consider uploading it - a
photo improves the article no end. Please note that you must own the
copyright or have permission to use the image, not just "borrow" it from a
handy website
Any queries? My reply-to address is valid, and replies to the group will
also be read, of course.

And, as far as accuracy goes, often content-free as well.
I trust Tony Blair more than I trust Wikipedia.

Be fair, Ian. It's probably fairly content-rich if you're wanting
to find information on Ayn Rand or Klingon, and probably unparalleled as
an information source on Objectivist Klingons.
Otherwise it lives up to its reputation as the world's most comprehensive
collection of inaccurate information.

I stand (well, sit) chastened, corrected and subdued.
