Capital One card 0% deal
Quite interested in these card which I found via the MSE website. One
thing I don't quite understand from the T&Cs,though, and I was
wondering whether anyone can help me out.

Near the top, just after the three columns of info on the interest
rates there is this statement:

"Total charge for credit:
At the time the agreement is made, is	116.17
Comprising interest in the sum of:	116.17"

Does this mean that they charge you 116 for having the card?

Apologies if I'm misinterpreting this but I just can't clarifiy it in
my mind!

TIA

The Consumer Credit (Advertisements) Regulations 2004 require a specimen
APR calculation based on 1500 borrowed.

See : http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2004/20041484.htm

does it look like this could be it?

Can't help you with that but plenty other cards are giving you 0% transfers
(if it is that you are looking for) for 9 months from the date of taking the
card.
I see Capital one are only doing it for a maximum of 6 months.

The one I'm looking at is until January 2007 (and no, that isn't a
mis-type). There's a 2% transfer charge but that's a pretty damn good
deal IMHO.

It could be... It's very unclear, though. I might give them a bell...

I stand corrected. I just presumed the January bit would be January next
year. That is pretty damn good.
The nearest I got to this was when my bank offered me 4% for the life of the
balance transfer.
Works out well considering my wife put her new car on a 0% interest Visa
card the other month. She reckons she wouldn't have got a car loan for as
cheap as that.

Well hopefully they'll accept me :)

I've got two modest balances I'd like to clear (and to cut up the
cards they're on leaving just one card for internet purchases and one
for using overseas). By the time the interest-free period is up I
would hope to have cleared the balance...

Good deal - except for the 2% fee. If you want to avoid that then the
NatWest 0% card (transfers and purchases) is a good bet - only for 9
months though

They do offer a 2nd years warranty on household appliances bought on the
card and give airmiles.
