BBC NEWS | England | North Yorkshire | Church blessing for rail landmark
A steam engine is to be blessed with holy water to mark the 175th anniversary
of commercial rail travel.
The Duke of Gloucester locomotive will be blessed by Canon Glyn Webster,
Chancellor of York Minster, after it pulls into York station on Saturday.
The ceremony will mark the 175th anniversary of the Liverpool and Manchester
Railway, which launched George Stephenson's Rocket locomotive.

....including the *ace* quote:
"When I was a curate in a sleepy parish, where the vicar had to make
everything happen, if I was fed up and disillusioned I'd go out and
watch the Mallard steaming by on excursions to Scarborough, and say
thanks to God that there was one thing that moved in my parish without
me having to push it."

Re: 71000 today - was BBC NEWS | England | North Yorkshire | Church blessing for rail landmark
There are 4 pictures of 71000 steaming through Earlestown
on my scratch Fotopic site, viewable at:
http://eddie-bellass.fotopic.net/c693547.html
Alas, the layout of this Fotopic page is all to cock and their
help desk is looking into it right now. You can however see
the pictures if you click upon the top left thumbnail of 71000
heading towards the camera. This will expand it to 600 X 450
pixels, after which you scroll down to the bottom of the page
and click on 'Full size' to expand it again to 1024 X 768 pixels.
Enjoy them if you can! ;-)

Looks OK to me; same format as your other collections. Perhaps Fotopic
have solved the problem. Your first photo in particular is excellent.

I've seen a similar reference from the USA more than thirty years ago.
