Well I'm glad the line has been closed. Unless the track has been damaged
and or, the train is immovable then one would hope that the wrecked vehicle
would be removed asap and the railway reopened. I t would be interesting to
hear from any NG reporter in the area as to how the matter has been treated.
Do the BTP or local police know how to investigate accidents on the
railways? Their only objective appears to be to stand arround looking bored
whilst stopping the railway operating for as long as possible.

From the story:

================================================================

He said the two-carriage train had been travelling at 60-70mph when
the car collided with the side of a carriage as it passed through
the crossing.

================================================================

This will be easy enough to confirm by looking at the side of the
train. Just to be on the safe side one could look at the front and
note what is presumably a lack of bits of car.

An interesting contrast with a crash on the roads outlined in
http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/content/News/story.aspx?brand=ENOnline&category=News&tBrand=enonline&tCategory=news&itemid=NOED16%20Sep%202005%2014%3A17%3A33%3A710

=============================================================

A cyclist suffered serious injuries after being hit by a bus
yesterday , which then failed to stop at the scene.

The victim, who is from Norwich, was taken to the Norfolk and
Norwich Hospital with a serious groin injury following the accident
at Agricultural Hall Plain at the top of Prince of Wales Road at
5.40pm. [snip]

Part of the road at Agricultural Hall Plain was closed off following
the accident and did not re-open until about 7.30pm.

=============================================================

Only part of the road closed and then for less than two hours.

12 Passangers? Closing the track didn't really affect a lot of people
did it?

Once again you have no point. How much damage to the road did the cyclist
do, compared say, to the damage done to the permanent way at Upton Nervet?

Ah, proof by assertion again. Always reassuring.

My point is about the length of time the police closed the road for
their "investigation".

Not an assertion, an observation. Very reassuring

Why inverted commas for investigation? Are you implying they closed the
road, stood around for 1 hour and 50 minutes and then opened it again just to
spite you. Were you there? Did you observe what they did are you merely
asserting?

And how much damage to the road /did/ the cyclist do?
