ScrewFix Invertor.
This looks good from ScrewFix...

At 120Watts it would run my C/H pump for a few hours from a reasonable
size car 12V battery.
If you do a search of their site for "invertor" you get the same item
that costs £79.19 instead of £19.79. I hope the latter is correct.

I got a 300W (600W peak surge) one from Maplin for similar money.

120 watts is 10 amps at 12 volts, so it will run for 5 hours from a new
50AH battery. 11 hrs from a 110 AH leisure battery.
For myself, I do not miss the central heating during the first hour or two
of a power cut. we have not have had any that long for 25 years. The
walls are warm and radiate/convect heat back into the house.

According to another recent thread it will also knacker the battery.
You need one designed to be discharged called a "leisure battery".

Apparently car type lead acid batteries are rated at a 20 Amp rate.
That means that they will output their rated capacity, say 60 Ampere
Hours, for 3 hours at 20 Amps or 6 hours at 10 Amps. Anything above the
20 Amps will not give the same 60 Ampere Hour capacity.
Has anyone any actual hands on with this ScrewFix invertor??

20 hour rate, not amp.
So 60 amp hour will output 3 amps for 20 hours.
But not quite 6 amps for 10 hours.
(you don't want to discharge car batteries below about 40% often - it
kills them)
