Hope Works Open Day
Hi,
Does anyone have any details on this event apart from it seemingly being a
hush hush event ?
I am aware that it is being held this weekend 17/18th and that 8F 48151,
Olton Hall in its HP guise are apparently attending and working shuttle
trains along the works branch. Harry Needles 20s will also be present as
will one of the original works steam shunters now owned by the Bahamas
Locomotive Society. This I believe is a static exhibit only.
So, can anyone tell me any more like opening times, tickets etc etc ?
Any info would be most welcome
Cheers Paul Harrison

Thanks for the info. 10-5 is what I expected. A shuttle bus from the station
is even better since I'll be travelling in from New Mills Central.
Cheers Paul
Looking forward to seeing some of the works

Not a huge number of locos, but well worth a visit if you are in the area.
48151+ 20096 top/tailing 2 Mark 1 coaches giving rides on the branch line
(not quite reaching Earle's Sidings). 20905, 5972, "Nunlow" 0-6-0 tank, and
a Sentinel shunter positioned for photography at the loco depot. Their own
locos mostly on view elsewhere on site, and most phottable - but do not
cross running lines unless Lafarge guides give you clearance that it is
safe. All free, but they welcome donations to their Tsunami Relief fund -
there is a collection box for this purpose. Many thanks to Lafarge for a
fine day.

I'm not familiar with the site. How much walking is involved, and how
long would one need for a reasonable look around?

Sorry - saw this too late for a useful reply. (My internet connection has
been unstable recently.) You could probably have seen everything in less
than an hour, unless you wanted to take photos of the moving train at
different locations.

Thanks, Bevan. As it happened, yesterday was a no-goer for doing this
anyway, because I had an afternoon appointment between services, but
it'll be handy to know for another time, if they repeat the opportunity.
