Five-car trains on SE Trains?
On the Down platform at Kidbrooke Station this evening I noticed a "5 Car
Stop" sign at one of the stopping points (so that drivers align the train
properly to check all the doors via the CCTV cameras, depending on the
train's length). I've only ever seen passenger trains made up of 2- and/or
4-car units on this line. How can there be 5-car trains?

SE's Class 376s are composed of five coaches.

Thanks. I haven't yet seen any 5-car units on this line, only 2 and 4. I
presume that these are taking over from the 465s/466s?

Some Alsthom 465/2s are being "refreshed" as 465/9s, ie first class put
in etc, and moving out to replace the last of the slam-door express
stock.
They have been replaced by 376s on some suburban diagrams.
You will certainly get a lot of them at Kidbrooke going to/from both
Cannon Street and Charing Cross. You may have noticed that most 465s
you see are the ABB ones now, and there are still more of them than
376s.

Yes - thanks for this. Most of the units through Kidbrooke are 465s/466s. I
saw a 376 set yesterday (I've travelled on them quite a lot recently) and
noticed, for the first time, that they are 5-car units!! Must get my eyes
tested - I always assumed they were 4-car!
