Veterinary medicines
I don't know whether it was on this group or another that someone posted
that their vet would only supply them with wormer (which is available over
the counter from most chemists!) for their dog if they presented it for a
medical examination!

Anyway, I found myself in a similar situation last week and searched the
internet rather than pay vet prices. My search came up with
http://www.bestpetpharmacy.co.uk. While most other online suppliers wanted
to charge me up to 15 postage for two small packets of pills, this company
offers Free Postage!

Anyway, I got the medication in less than 48 hours and enclosed was a
leaflet which reads as follows:

"Are you aware that UK vets no longer have a monopoly on the sale of
prescription medication for pets?"

"Compared with most vets, Bestpet Pharmacy can save you up to half the
price of pet medication".

"Ordering is easy: post us your vet prescription or print a prescription
from our website for your vet to sign. Place your order online and we'll
dispatch your goods".

Most here will know me as an irregular poster who hates being ripped off by
vets or bureaucrats. So you will know that I have no connection with this
company except for expecting to be a regular customer in the future. As the
Chinese saying goes, "Abuse it, you'll lose it".

You can also take your vets prescription to a "normal" pharmacy eg.
Boots and they will dispense the drugs (you will have to pay for them
obviously). Some vets charge a 400% mark up!

And I thought it was only me ,

going back to the original thread on 'docking' I told the assistant that I
had been buying wormers at the local agricultural merchannts
and that's why the bitch was due for an examination before she would issue
wormers , she catogoricaly told me that the wormers you get from the vet
practice are
only available throught vetinary practices and all the stuff you buy elswere
is only about 50% strength therfore not as efficient , thus wait for
   ----------
Using other wormers is puting the dog at risk

well I won't repeat the reply I gave them but in the end I got what I
wanted, so my logic is that they were trying it on ,

Its not my problem that I have healthy dogs and don't visit the vet every
couple of days like the old dear and her chiwawa , but I guess they will
make more money out of here in a year than they will
out of me in a lifetime.........
