Crewe Works. Not a lot of work there!
On my visit tothe open days at Crewe Works, I realised that had there
not been so many exhibits there,it appears that there is very little
work there, so the future may be rather bleak.

Technically its closed already.. On sunday the Coronation scot ( streamlined
steam loco) bell was rung at 4pm to signify the end of the show and the
official end of the works... Its scheduled to stay with doors open for 2
years, but no fresh work is being undertaken.. My feeling is give it six
months and it will be bye-bye.

Which seems somewhat strange given that Bombardier still have component
overhaul contracts being undertaken at the works. Anyone care to elaborate?

hard to believe how much has changed, lots of the big depots gone,
Swindon works and now Crewe.

Not to mention Derby Loco and the majority of The Plant.

This was my 1st visit since about 1983/4 when we could do the sunday
morning visits !

To drive through past morrisons was a shock ! and to see all those
houses going up !

I wonder whats buried under the gardens !

It would be a pity if the site goes towards houses / shopping centres
etc!

Would make an ideal Railway Maintainance Facility Strangely Enough !

Freightliner could make use of it ! even some Heritage Lines could do
with such a location to assist with various projects ?

Engineering Training etc !
