Vauxhall Omega 2.9 v6 1999 onwards
I have been unable to remove the oil filter cap. The oil filter is the
paper element type.
Could you please verify the location of the oil filter for a Vauxhall
Omega 2.5/2.9 v6 year 1999 onwards. Mant thanks

If you can't spot an oil filter, you're not competent enough to be
working on an engine. Pay someone to change it.

what sort of answer is that ! the guy was only asking for some help.
Conor im not sure what you do for a living, whether you work in a garage or
not , if you do then id thought you be a bit more sympathetic, but if you
dont, here's some info for you, some filter housings where the filter (
paper element) is incorporated in a black filter housing are quite hard to
spot sometimes in the dark depths of an engine bay in amoungst all the other
shite they fit in the engine bay these days !

And here's a clue for you :- Changing the oil and filter is the easy bit of
a service. The "quick look round" will do an awful lot more, in terms of
preventative maintenance - but ONLY if you know what you're looking at and
for. If you can't find the oil filter without a fucking great big neon
sign, then you don't know what you're looking at or for, so ought to leave
it to somebody who does.

Oh, I don't know on a modern car.
I'm happy to do most normal service jobs on any car, but I'll be fucked
if I could find where to put the air filter in the Panzerwagen without
consulting the manual.

That's rather the problem with the Omega 2.6 V6 (I have one, also) - the
oil filter is not visible from above the engine bay. I had mine changed
whilst a garage was changing the oil-cooler[*1] and asked the mechanic
where the filter was, he chuckled and explained you'd only find it from
underneath, behind the engine.
So, not all cars come with "fucking great big neon sign", try looking
under the bonnet of a v6 Omega before judging the OP.
*1 - Was actually looking for the oil filter to replace it DIY when
noticed the Baileys in the coolant, that turned a DIY job into an
expensive garage job.

I can't help (suffered the same problem trying to find it), however,
have you tried www.cavweb.co.uk, under the Omega forums - bunch of
genuinely able enthusiasts who're more than happy to help with information.

Right, and?
You mean you think a good look and poke round underneath the whole car is
not a fairly important part of a service? Oh, dear.

Re-read, ol' sausage. I'm implying the OP needs the FGBNS. Somebody-with-
clue wouldn't.

if you have the paper element, then somewhere there will be an aluminium cap
with a very large hex on , as I recall it is underneath, on the left of the
car, toward the back of the engine, the lump it lives in can leak against
the block, they often move as you do them up.

A helpful one that'll save him 100's when he fucks up the motor.
