Crewe works :- why no DRS,GBrF & EWS
Hi all

Due to ill health was unable to go to Crewe but looking at all the Fotopic
sites of the event what happened to the modern traction?
Why no DRS/EWS & GBrF locos?
Anyone any ideas?

No. According to the advance publicity, some were expected. OTOH, more
would have meant cramming them in a bit more closely, and one nice thing
about the event was the thought that had been put into arranging the
exhibits so that people wanting to take pictures had a fairly easy time
of it. The big LMS engines were arranged en echelon, for example, with
plenty of space around them. There was perhaps less artistry to the
arrangement of the modern traction, but no less practicality.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Didn't stop people walking across to inspect the buffers in close up
when dozens were trying to take photographs though.

And being shouted at by the odd berk who seems to think the whole thing was
laid on just so they could take photos... Sigh.

I think the only modern traction loco's missing were the EWS 67's and
maybe a 92, but all else seemed to be represented by other company's. I
E Freightliner.

If people want to see 67s etc, there's no need to travel all the way to
Crewe - I was there yesterday and I overheard someone bemoan the lack of an
EWS 66!!

As someone who travelled from East Anglia it would have been nice to observe
in close up some of the DRS 20,33,37,66/4. But there was still plenty to
see.

Why didn't they stick to the Friday night? At other times they were
not a priority.

This time it will surely run.

The message
from Peter Johnson contains these words:

They were probably trying to work out how the "quartering" had been done
on 46203's front buffers. I thought that was a nice touch.
