Window Winder Cable - Proton Persona
Does anyone know where I can buy a window winder cable for a Proton
Persona.

I needed a cheap run-around and have just bought this car, it appears
that the drivers electic window not working is the only fault (broken
cable)

Also does anyone have any tips on how to fit a new cable ?

Thanks in advance

if its like most electric window regulators the Bowden cable gets kinked or
breaks, you cant just buy the cable you have to buy the whole regulator,
scrappy be your cheapest bet.

Thanks for that.

I had the door trim off and yes the cable was broken, I was hoping to
buy the cable on it's own. Also, with it broken it makes it hard to see
what route the cable should take !

I will ring some breakers tomorrow to see what I can turn up, not sure
what luck I will have !

Take the door trim of the other door to see the cable path. Depends on what
sort of cable it is, I managed to repair a XM handbrake cable with some
heavy duty Bowden type cable and a couple of screw clamps. Obviously this is
a little more complicated.

Yes I see what you mean. The cable release to the parking brake to be more
precise. The one specialist I talked to said it was a dashboard out jobie
and was fearsomely difficult. Hah!

Re: Window Winder Cable - Proton Persona
Malc,

Thanks for your reply

It is a bowden cable that is similar to that used for pushbike brake
cables, your idea about stripping the other door is a good one, I also
considered seeing if the rear doors had the same mechanism (yes the car
has electric windows all round), I could then use one from the rear
door (dont care if that cannot be opened).

I do not think I can join the cable as it has to run through various
pulleys, but may be able to make up a replacement.

I am going to see what I can get hold of tomorrow.

Re: Window Winder Cable - Proton Persona
Thanks to all who gave advice.

I stripped out the complete regulator today, I managed to get the
garage I bought the car from to pay for a new one £42 VAT.

Just got to wait a week for the Proton dealer to get one in.
