flexies on rads
.... can you use flexible tap connectors on radiators? mate wants to
leave the exixting valves in place and connect up a towel rail, keeping
old rad in case he moves so he can put room back to how it was?

What is the size difference? You can get adjustable tail extensions
such as :

Sorry about the empty post!
I don't see why you can't use braided flexible pipes close to a radiator,
but you may not be able to attach them directly to the valve. The tap
connector is designed to screw onto a tap(!) which has a 1/2" BSP thread and
a flat end. The valve is likely to have a 15mm compression fitting - which
may or may not employ a 1/2" BSP thread. If it doesn't fit, you could use a
flexible pipe with compression fittings both ends (or push-fit if you
prefer) and then use a very short (2") bit of copper pipe between the valve
and the flexible. Or you could pipe the whole thing using Hep2O barrier
pipe, or equivalent.

Buy 3 15mm(or whatever) isolators.
Cut pipe, store old radiator, with cut pipe.
Put isolators onto pipe ends, fix towel rail to this.
When time comes, simply remove towel rail, and affix radiator, using olives/
nuts from the 3rd isolator.

Or just buy 2 isolators; compression olives and nuts are available from
Jewson separately...
Also - it may sound silly, but remember to empty the system before you
start cutting, and when you refill remember to put in adequate quantity
of corrosion inhibitor.

Yeah, I've got them on mine, the tap connector end should fit on the valve's
15mm compression fitting thread ok with the rubber washer sealing on the
end of the fitting, the other end is standard 15mm compression. It's difficult
to get the flex to stay in the right place so I put stiff piano wire behind to
keep it straight. The look isn't to everyone's taste, older punters in
particular seem to have a bit of an aversion ;-)
