Stalybridge Strangeness
Not the mysterious machine that has appeared in the foyer which may or
may not be a Quick Ticket machine if it was working, but the 2 x 2-car
158's that came into platform 3 tonight at 20:45, and almost immediately
reversed and departed in a Manchester Victoriawardly direction. Not sure
if it was a stock movement or did had punters on.
Shirley if it was a Piccadilly-Victoria movement, it could have reversed
at Ashburys ? Or if it it came up from Stockport, it could have gone
via Ashton Moss ?
Whilst you may think I'd have better things to worry about, inquiring
minds want to know :-)

Probably headed for Newton Heath Depot - maybe Northern crews
do not have route knowledge for the Ashburys - Philips Park line?

Section of line has been removed preventing access to the A&D at
Ardwick and therefore the back platform at Ashburys. This means we have
to go all the way up up to Staly via GBridge to get to the shed.

Either that or shunt at picc and go via the crescent.

Re: Stalybridge Strangeness
It might have been a route learner and if it was from Newton Heath,
then who knows - the drivers may have had a clear view

Re: Stalybridge Strangeness
Most of the time its pretty much up to the signaller and driver to sort
out , although a job might be booked to go via the crescent its not
uncommon for us to ask to go via Ashburys as its a bit quicker and also
does away with the need to shunt around Picc which is better for
everyone. This is also dependent on route knowledge as well, its always
the Victoria drivers at Northern that take the stock to Newton Heath
but not all sign via Ashburys.

Re: Stalybridge Strangeness
Just for clarification...the Vic drivers take the Northern stock, but
TPE drivers take their stock to the shed as well sometimes.

Is this due to the new TPE depot being built at Ardwick ?

Not sure to be honest, but p way men have been knocking about the area
for months so you may well be right.
