Can't help you, but can't resist pointing out that my 7 year old Bosch
planer is still on its original belt. It gets used a fair bit too.

Consign it to the tip and remind yourself that it's a false economy to
buy Chinese tools from Argos. Even with the 2-3 year warranty they
are playing the numbers game that either the usage will be low and no
failure or that the price point is low enough that you won't bother to
return the tool.
Had you bought a Bosch, Makita or DeWalt planer, a) it is unlikely
that the belt would have gone in the first place and b) if it had, you
would be able to get another.
