Ping people with Carpetright problems
I have a friend in a senior position at Carpetright. If those of you with
grievances would like to get together and write a sensible e-mail, I'd be
happy to pass it on.
The best approach in these cases is, I've found, to be polite and factual.
Let me know if you think this is a good idea. If not, well...no matter.

Sounds like a good idea, but then I haven't got any grievances. I was once
lured into a Carpetright shop following adverts for heavy discounts, but
they wanted an arm and a leg for the underlay so it all seemed a con to me.
I wouldn't buy a door mat from them after that.

This isnt a problem with carpetright, but is a problem with all carpet
shops. The carpet is cheap, but then the underlay and grippers cost a bomb.
I went into carpetright shop a while back with my dad (who will not pay a
penny more than he has to, and is fairly knowledgeable about prices of
nearly everything! Hes the only guy I know that when he tells me I need a
certain plumbing/electrical/piece of wood/nails/screws from B&Q not only
will he tell me which isle its in but the price as well!!).
The guy tried to charge my dad 35 for a box of grippers, my dad said you
have to be joking, I will pay no more than 18 a box. The guy tried to
convince my dad the box cost him 30. My dad told him he could buy them for
18 a box, and if he wants my dad could supply the whole carpet right chain
with grippers for 25 a box...thus saving them 5 a box, and my dad making
7 a box. The guy then gave my dad some rubbish about the quality of
grippers etc etc. My dad came back with the companies that make grippers,
the type of wood used and the thickness of the wood. Not only that he went
to the car, and got a gripper from his car and asked the guy to show the
gripper they were selling, so they could compare quality. The guy started
to look more and more uncomfortable as my dad kept talking. All the while I
am standing there with a big grin on my face and trying hard not to laugh.
In the end we didnt end up buying any carpet, but it was good to see the
sales guy squirm. My dads english isnt perfect, either so it made it even
more funnier. Now when ever my dad goes shopping for things...I try to go
along as well....best fun I have had in ages.

Re: Ping people with Carpetright problems
how sad your sort who go into shops with no intention of buying anything
just to wind up the sales tubbies need to be banned from any retail
establishment.
