Look at Richer Sounds for good prices on plasmas and probably the best value
extended warranty in the marketplace.

Depends if you want HD ready or not, if you do, you may be looking at
spending a bit more than that. I bought a Panny 42" HD ready a couple of
months back, cost me 2200. If you can buy from John Lewis you'll get a
free 5 year guarantee.

Have you checked AV Forums? Plenty of useful info on there.

Many non HDTV ready Plasma aren't even UK SDTV standard but sub-SDTV
standard - only being 480 lines instead of 576 lines, with a big TV you want
more lines, you certainly don't want to be throwing away 100 lines of
resolution.

Yeah yeah yeah - My Panny 852x480 screen is fabulous and using region1 DVD's
I am not throwing away any lines as there is only 480 coming out!
Most Us films are converted from 480 to 576 anyway so - no gain at all!
Personally, for 1K difference I'd recommend a 42" Panny or 43" Pioneer for
the best picture - and Panny for value for money
For good information read this (worth the research if you're spening all
that dosh)

Before you look at specifications and consider HiDef - go to a company like
www.nexnix.co.uk who have them on display with the same signal for side by
side comparison - and THEN say you really thing HD is worth the extra money!
It bloody isn't (yet)

WRONG!

PAL discs are not from the NTSC versions, and you can see the difference.

If you are happy with the lower quality then that is fine, I can't put up with
the lower resolution.

 for 1K difference I'd recommend a 42" Panny or 43"

Not altogether wrong at all. Most US films up to very recently were filmed
in NTSC.

Er..I take it you are talking about made for TV or direct to video films when
you say that ?
Real films until recently were all shot on photographic film at 24 fps that then
had to be processed. This could then be transferred/converted quite easily to
PAL format video tape or
through a more complex process to NTSC format tapes. NTSC and PAL only apply to
video formats not to film.
Regular 35mm, 70mm, etc. filmstock has no 'understanding' of NTSC or PAL.

Cheers
