MOT Problem
Hi Guys and Guyesses;

My car was MOT'd today and passed... Yey!

But on the smoke test print-out it says, amongst other things

Engine Capacity 1500,

Where the actual engine capacity is 1700 or 1686 to be exact....

The limit applied was 1.50 ppm

and it passed with 0.70 ppm

Now then does the engine capacity affect the pass limits?

Does the incorrect data ( the VIN No is correct) invalidate the pass?

Should I bother going back?

TIA

I don't think you actually need to show the emission test e.g. to get
tax disc. It's just for diagnostic interest if some numbers are marginal.

Diesel or petrol?

No.

No.
What's the V5 say for the engine capacity? Has it ever had an engine swap
from a 1500 to a 1700 and somebody's not changed the paperwork?

Nope, just the tester's error....

Me thinks I'll leave it.... It's only the print out from the smoke meter
anyway..

Cheers Peoples!

Re: MOT Problem
It is not easy to distinguish between the 1700 & 1500 Isuzu engined
Vauxhalls - unless you deal with them regularly.

The smoke test of 1.5 is the fast pass limit. If it does not exceed
this on the first acceleration then it has passed.

If it fails the fast pass, then limits of 2.5 & 3.0 are applied (non
turbo and turbo respectively).

It does not matter what your engine size is for the diesel smoke test.

Did you have a computerised MOT certificate or a hand written one?

If it was computerised, check the engine size on the certificate.
