Voyager thorugh Nuneaton
This morning at 07:45, a Virgin Voyager passed through platform 6 at
Nuneaton, travelling from the Leicester line towards Birmingham.
Does anyone know what a Voyager was doing in this neck of the woods?
Was it diverted from Derby via Leicester?

Well, the Tamworth line was fine earlier. The 0605 ex-Derby arrived BNS on
time at 0645. The next Virgin is the 0655 from Derby. So I suppose it's
possible this was it, but I think it's unlikely.

It was the 0655 Derby to Bristol Temple Meads. The train was 36 late in
to New Street and missed out its booked stop at Burton.

Just as well I got the earlier one from Burton :-)
Considering it just has to trundle up from Central Rivers to Derby and then
down to New Street with stops at Burton and Tamworth (and a fair amount of
slack in the TT between Tamworth and Birmingham) the 0655 has a shocking
record of on-time departures (theoretically at 0742) from New Street. One
reason I keep going back to the 0605 is that you can set your watch by it -
I can remember one cancellation in about four years, and it frequently has
to wait time at New Street for the 0642 to clear the platform for the
timetabled arrival at 0645. This morning the 0655 was 4 late off Derby, made
an apparent emergency stop near Elford, lost its path at Water Orton, and
was in New Street by about 0755. Its been late or cancelled on 4 of the last
weekdays.
