Quite expensive product, probably due to advertising. I once tried
it when it was sold at the introductory price - it didn't clear my
drain.

Could that possibly have something to do with the fact that it's not
a drain clearer?

I think it was Mr Muscle Sink and Plughole Unblocker, not Cillit Bang.
But it was money down the drain...

The confusion is understandable, after all the names are very similar ;)

My local plumber gave me advice that has saved a fortune, suffering as
I do from house drains installed by an ungifted amateur. Get down to
B&Q and buy one of those cylindrical plunger jobbies with a handle on
the top. The sucker bit seals the drain, you suck water up with the
plunger, then blast it back down again. Two or three goes and the
drain is clear. It's saved me a fortune in drain cleaners, Domestos,
and calls from Dyno-Rod. AFAIK they work on both exterior and
interior drains.

Also good to have is a couple of metres of net curtain wire. Costs
pennies, and because it's really flexible it dislodges whatever is
blocking your drains. Best for sinks & baths.

Borax powder from Boots is a cheaper bet than most of these wonder
cleaners which often contain ... borax.
