Only Thomson Lyra PDP2840U I found is at
http://reviews.designtechnica.com/review1640.html
Sounds quite good - anyone know if you can voice record to it, with a mic
input if possible. BTW it's hard to find an Argos with one in stock.

Incidentally the picture on the Argos page seems to be of the PDP2840U not
the PDP2842. I prefer the look of the former but they may have just got the
picture wrong.

I have the pdp 2840u 20 gb (similar but no radio).
Compared to an Ipod:
+
Much better battery life.
Don't have to use the buggy and restrictive Itunes software or
equivalent...just drag and drop MP3s from windows explorer then run the
lyra profile software. Its basically an external 20 Gb HDD with USB 2
connection. Drag and drop any file type for backup or transfer to
another PC.
Never locks or freezes like my daughters Ipod.
Sound quality is good when used with better aftermarket headphones.
Good quality case included.
-
Its bigger/bulkier and heavier than an Ipod.
The navigation buttons are not quite as good.
Despite having the same music on both, my Daughter ends up using my
Thomson more than her new Ipod!
