Bowen-Cooke elevator coaler, Wellingborough
Hello,
I am looking for information about the coaling facilities in
Wellingborough. I understand that they were designed by C.J.
Bowen-Cooke of the LNWR in 1919 but that a few were used at
non-LNWR sheds. It looks like a corregated square hut on legs
with a covered bucket-conveyor leading from a pit to the hut.
I have a couple of pictures of the Wellingborough facility, but
invariably they have a loco blocking the view. Has anyone got
a better image, or plans, or a picture from another angle.
Even directions to resources that have such information would
be useful.
Thanks.

Have you seen the photo in LMS Locoman by George Bushell? It gives an
unobscured but distant view of the device (distant because there is a
Garratt taking up most up the picture).

I hadn't remembered it as it has been a long time since reading
that book. However, I do see it. Very distant though.
