solar garden lights   
anyone come across any bargains for solar garden lights from mainline 
stores? Don't want the rubbish from market stalls etc - tried them - they 
never work more than about 2 days!

Homebase often do a 3 for 2 offer, giving you 3 for 10.  Had them in my 
garden for well over a year now and still going strong.

I replace the batteries and then they work fine

I wondered about that - but are they just the bog standard rechargeable 
batteries?

you've just been unlucky I got some 3 ones from a spot filling station and
they are still working 18 months on not a bad idea to fully charge the nicad
type on a rechargeable battery charger once in a while or as posted you can
always get new rechargeable batteries quite cheaply off ebay

Lots of motorway service stations are selling them at two for 10.  They 
look pretty decent.
