Taxi from Palma Majorca airport PMI to Palma Nova
Looking to prebook a taxi from Palma Majorca airport PMI at 10am Saturday to
Palma Nova and return a week later at midday.

Any recommendations as prices seem to vary a bit.

Or should I just get a taxi at airport?

It's not very far at all, you can virtually see it. You could jump on a
bus?

If you want a bit of style try Majorca Airport Transfers

http://www.majorca-airport-transfers.com

who provide large Mercedes cars and a driver for about E 45 each way.

I would take my chances at the airport as some pre-booked Taxis can rip
you off. Average fare to Palma Nova should be about E 25 - 30 each way.

Whereabouts in Palma Nova are you staying as I may be able to help you
if you haven't been there before. I'm over there in a couple of week's
time, it's like a second home to us :o)

Can I have the name of your optician please?

I would love to have eyesight like yours and the stamina to take the bus
on a Saturday morning when a Taxi will do the trip in about 20 minutes.

Re: Taxi from Palma Majorca airport PMI to Palma Nova
Thanks for reply.

I'm staying just onto the Torrenova headland at the Hotel Hawaii and leaving
in 4 weeks.

I was going to pay 30 for return coach transfer but figured the extra time
gained and only few more Euro would make it more like an independent holiday
rather than a package deal.

Are there big queues for taxis at around 11 am Saturday morning?

Are there certain types of taxis to avoid or stick with?

How would I go about getting taxi back, prebook with driver or ring from
hotel?

So many questions as the last I went was 1983!

Not sure the wife would appreciate starting a holiday by catching a local
bus.

Haven't broken the news to her that we are going with First Choice...she
won't be happy!

What's wrong with First Choice? We always fly First Choice albeit
Premier class. It's worth the extra for a bit of legroom and leather
seats, complimentary drinks etc. etc.

We make up our own holidays and IMHO, First Choice are one of the better
charter airlines. Are you flying from Bristol by any chance?

The Hotel Hawaii is more Magaluf than Palma Nova but it's in a good
position and seems to be a reasonable hotel. Thank your God that you are
not staying in the Hotel Honolulu up the hill.

Big problem with coaches is that yours will always be the last drop-off
and if there are any problems at the airport, you will sit on the coach
for ages.

Queues are generally not too bad. I would take the Taxi any day.

Taxis are better regulated in Majorca than here. Only take an official
Taxi with a sign and proper colouring. You'll know one when you see one
:o)

Call from the Hotel.

Since you have not had the pleasure of the new Palma airport, be
prepared for up to 1.6 Km of walking between the gate and the luggage
reclaim. With luck, the walkways will be working.

As you leave reclaim, follow the signs for the Taxi ranks. Don't accept
any offers of transport from the touts, only take a Taxi from the rank
and agree the price before setting off. Most drivers are totally honest
but a few, will leave the meter off and charge more than it's worth.

How can an island the size of Majorca need an airport the size it is?

Yep Bristol is the nearest flight I could get to Cornwall as Exeter hasn't a
lot of choice for that weekend.

Fair enough that will reassure her that First Choice are just the same as
the rest (not that I'm too bothered).

We just had a bad package from them a few years ago and have avoided them
since.

never been there before in fact never been to Spain, found it ok, busy at
night with the nightlife, bit like Bournemouth, flew from our local
airport, Bournemouth International, no sure why its international ?
went with the family Thomson holiday, if we were to go back it would have to
be Palma Nova.

You will find loads of metered taxis waiting at the airport. It is very well
organised.

For your return, just stroll to the nearest taxi rank the day before and
book with one of the drivers. They are very reliable.

Possibly because there are airlines flying from there to destinations outside
the UK?
