UKLC posts disappearing
I just wanted to add my comment that I don't seem to be seeing
all the posts either.

I have noted several others here recently complain that they see
replies to posts but not the originals. I noticed the same thing
today reading what was here.

And Sleepy said he can't see any of my posts. (No jokes about
how lucky he is please.) Not sure why that would be so. I used
to X-No-Archive my posts years ago but I don't any longer.

I'm using Newsfeeds who are probably partly to blame. Is that
the root of the problem or are there other factors?

I'm using plain old OE and a feed from the broadband ISP. As far as I know I
haven't lost any mail except for those in my killfile.

The only prob I have with your newsfeed is its humungous 2MB download
tagline.

Very occasionally I can't see an original. I thought that it was because
I'd killfiled the author (as in Mr Kellett) , or because it was a
crossposted reply to something on another ng.

Thanks for answering. At least you saw it. I have no control
over the signature line that Newsfeeds adds. Except to use
something other than Newsfeeds of course. And the options are
not exactly plentiful.

Your news has to come from somewhere. It doesn't come from OE.
Does your ISP have a news server? Mine has a contract with
Newsfeeds rather than run their own. OE's just your news reader.
Unless you are getting your news from a website like google.
Then you are not really using a newsreader at all.

The last post I saw of yours was dated 6 Aug., eg.
Message-ID: <42f4c064$1_2@spool9-west.superfeed.net>

You could compare your headers in that post with a more
recent one to see if anything's changed.

This was the first post when I opened Mailgate. So you seem to be
showing up today. I haven't been able to see your posts from earlier in
the week. Maybe the problem is resolved now.

Try adding a double hyphen '--' under your email and that should then
appear between the end of the mail and the sig. I can filter it out then.

Like I said, my newsfeed is via my ISP's news server. It's just that OE as a
reader offers its own set of problems so if I'm not having problems
generally all is well.

I only check Google if I seem to be missing mail, i.e replies to unseen
posts...

I don't know much about computers so here's my quite simple analysis. You

Edith. Good morning in lovely cool sunny weather.

When I reply to Johnny and Al, I pluck their tailfeathers, but in
doing so, I have subconsciously absorbed the fact that Newsfeeds are
unlimited, uncensored and offer total privacy. My ISP does its own.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird for my email and also for reading news on my
PC. The only problem is that it doesn't like binaries.

Mr Pinny is a big fan of Pan newsreader, which he installed on the
laptop I share with him, and which is superb for use with binaries. So
far I'm just learning and prefer TB. I use Google if I'm on another
computer that doesn't belong to me.

Oh great. Intermittant problems are the worst.
