I bought a digital camera from them a year beck and was stung with customs
duties, looks like they've changed that now though.

Why not, provided it was refurbished by the manufacturers? It will have
any fault in the new camera rectified.

I have bought quite a lot of factory-refurbished stuff over the years
and they have all been entirely problem-free, unlike several brand-new
things.

When I worked at a factory that did do refurbs, they were
quality-checked better than the main assembly line.. YMMV

Thanks, reduced from prices are a bit of a joke (as ever) but a good few
bargains to be had, got a Casio Exilim EX-S100 for 134.

It certainly was in a "Professional Audio" company I used to work for.
Refurb stuff was fully tested and calibrated, and known to be working 100%
when it left us. Unlike new stuff straight from the factory in the Far
East - the number of units dead on arrival was worrying!

Why not? I got a refurb fuji S7000 direct from fujifilm.co.uk - I also
took out the extra 3 year extended warranty and got it for less than a new
S7000 with one year warranty.

When it arrived it was packaged as new and has never given me any problems
whatsoever.

I considered it a bargain.

Doesn't mean that the product will survive a reliability test. The same
fault could develop for the same reason it developed in the first place. The
faults that cause failed components can often go unnoticed. It's only when
the fault becomes common place it is then recognised.

I know of someone who's just bought a refurb TV just to save about 60 and
so far the TV has been exchanged 3 times after a week or so of ownership all
have had different occuring faults!

That said if the price is right I'd probably buy.

Where is 7DayShop based? http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/info.php
refers to guernsey but is that just their registered office?

I am not sure I like the look of some clauses on that page:

"By using 7dayshop.com, you accept that internet based
communication is an adequate form of long distance communication
between us."

and

[support link] Please do not request the removal of items from
your order - we are fully automated and support staff do not have
the ability to remove things from orders...
