GNER 1E56 Tonight 18:00 Ex GLC - KGX 00:17+ Routing/Pathing Query.
If someone would be so kind, and has the access to:

Could anyone please let me know if this service once departed from SVG is
direct ECML to KGX or is it *going* to be sent via the Hertford Loop ?
If it is - is there a passing time listed for Cuffley ?

Looking at the timing's it looks like its pathed via the loop, but it would
be very useful for me to know for certain.

Thanks in advance.

Late night glances at live departure boards lead me to suspect it usually
runs via Welwyn (as it did on the one occasion when I travelled on it a few
years ago) - it doesn't seem to wait time at Stevenage (it's a set down only
stop), so if it leaves Peterborough anywhere near to time it can get to
Kings Cross anything up to half an hour early.

Undoubtedly there are occasions when it is diverted via Hertford, but I
suspect that GNER's main motive for the 0017 arrival at Kings Cross (and the
footnote that GNER cannot guarantee connections with LUL) is to avoid too
many taxi fares when it runs late and passengers miss onward connections
with last trains from other termini.

As there is a 23:30 ex Stevenage for Kings Cross all stations via Hertford
which desn't get to Alexandra Palace until 00:10 I'd be amazed if the 18:00
was booked via Hertford. The previous GNER (20:40 ex Leeds) also runs to
the same extended timings south of Peterborugh and later WAGN services have
booked calls via Welwyn. The last few arrivals into Euston also run to
grossly extended timings (the last one of all is allowed an hour and three
quarters in the public book from Rugby...)
