And that would help how, exactly?

Posting offensive ASCI art, and making unjust allegations of trolling
need to be countered. If it happens repeatedly, the group will be
disrupted.

It might be a good idea to stop...

and review...

just where we are before the red mist descends and retribution is meted
out.

In response to some of your posts, someone decided to post the
admonition not to feed the trolls. One possible reason for this (among
many) is that whoever it was thought you were trolling. Whether you
were or not is beside the point. Apparently somebody *thought* you
were. It's worthwhile, maybe, reviewing the style and content of your
posts and possibly thinking about altering them slightly so that other
readers don't get the impression, mistaken or otherwise, that you are
trolling. Mark you, this is free, unrequested advice, so it's worth as
much as you paid for it, and you are completely free to ignore it.

Threatening to make the group unusable for its readers isn't really
constructive. If someone is maliciously teasing you, they will have
got what they wanted, and a lot of other people will have had their
enjoyment of this group diminished. Usually, the best way of dealing
with disruptive posters is to ignore them. They generally, eventually,
go away. Again, this is free, unrequested advice, so it's worth as much
as you paid for it, and you are completely free to ignore it.

To try and be slightly on-topic, what if someone claims a person to be
fare-dodging, what is the best response by the putative fare-dodger?
Would it be to claim loudly that one is not a fare-dodger, and if the
allegation is repeated, the rail journey will be a misery for everyone
else? Or can you suggest a better way of handling it?

Sid

And how on earth do you counter it? If it bothers you that much, simply
Killfile him.

I still can't see the point of your post.

In the real world (for want of a better term) one has a broader, and
different, range of options.

Some people think you have been trolling.

Do you mean (1) that the offensive art and allegations will disrupt
the group, or (2) that you will disrupt the group to get even?

If (1), you might be right.

If (2), you're threatening to throw a tantrum that will confirm the
allegations.

Another means of countering the stupidity of the idiotic troll brigade
has now sprung to mind. Take a look at uk.transport.london - that
group has been absolutely inundated by the most offensive, barmy,
racist postings that you could imagine.

And all caused by a couple of cross posts...

I totally agree. So go and think of something else to do.
