A lady ordered four TV for 1.96 in total and didn't get any. She now
says she will boycott Argos and Homebase from now on!

I laughed at that, sad cow!

Perhaps she should be tagged so we can track her and see if she lives up to
that ;-)

I bet they are really bothered, surley they are better off without customers
who try and pull a dodgy one.

Isn't it time to lay this subject to rest, it was an obvious pricing error
and no one really expected to get 1 let alone 4.

Let alone that she wasn't likely to buy any goods costing in excess of 1.96
from Argos or Homebase, wasn't she.

"Christine Puckett-Gouldin, from Burnley, Lancashire, bought four of the
televisions from Homebase for 1.96. The money was taken from her bank
account on Monday but she has now received an e-mail saying that it will be
refunded. Mrs Pucket-Gouldin, 54, said yesterday: "I feel that's the game
the big boys play. A small retailer would feel honour-bound to honour the
deal. "

Eh!? No they wouldn't! They have even more to loose Mrs

The question is: Why does Mrs Buckett-Golddig need four 28" televisions
complete with DVD recorders and stuff? How many bedrooms does she have?

T & C's - Read 'em and weep.

While we try to ensure that all prices on our website are accurate, errors
may occur. If we discover an error in the price of goods you have ordered we
will inform you as soon as possible and give you the option of reconfirming
your order at the correct price or cancelling it. If we are unable to
contact you we will treat the order as cancelled. If you cancel and you have
already paid for the goods, you will receive a full refund

She hasn't got a leg to stand on. She is just a greedy old hag trying to
cash in on an oh so obvious mistake.

But T & C isn't everything.
1) They have to be clearly present, not hidden away.
2) They have to be reasonable and conform to standards.

T & C's are on the front page, clearly shown. And I think you may find they
conform perfectly to standards which is why Argos can refuse the tv's.
Simple as that. no one can claim they "never saw" any T&C's becasue the
words Terms and Conditions are very clear to see.

I received both an e-mail and a letter in the post this week to confirm
error in pricing.

Money has been taken so just waiting for refund.

Interest gained to the company involved to the 10,000 apparently paid up

Merchant accounts with the credit card companies do not work like that.

And hopefully they'll use common sense and realise people were IMHO trying
to pull a fast one on a mistake that was beyond their control and covered by
the T&Cs.

If it's on a credit card the store won't be paid till next month.

It'll probably cost them more in the double CC fees than any interest
gained.

Debit cards would be a different matter.
