Southend Pier - pictures of '49 stock in '82
Both my parent's familie come from Southend, so I have many fond
memories of trips on the old pier trains in the sixties. I do return
from time to time, and did so today, to take some photos of the recent
developmentas at both ends of the pier. Quite an interesting
architectural exercise, and raising the bridge is definitely a good
idea!
Anyway, A few days ago, (just before my PC crashed and I lost my
favourites!), I found a set of photos on-line of a number of the 1949
Southend pier cars on the seafront in 1982, about to be carted off to
whatever fate was awaiting them. From what I remember, the
photographer had used an instamatic to get some interior shots and
another camera to record the exteriors. I know they are there
somewhere, but can I find them again? I did visit the museum, but they
couldn'ty help, and as I know there have been a number of discussions
here on the subject, does anybody else know of the whereabouts of these
photographs?
Thanks in anticipation,
Martyn

Thanks Graeme - I have seen your web pages, in fact I have had a link
to it from my Lynton & Barnstaple site http://www.lynbarn.org.uk for a
few years now.
I found the elusive photos by the way, which you might be interested
in. They are at

Many thanks,
