Where Is VWC & VCC Spare Stock Sited
Where abouts across the country are the spares units sited
VWC -
There are 53 units and 46 diagrams, leaving 7 somewhere around the
country.
My guesses;
Wembley - 2
Oxley - 1
Manchester - 2
Liverpool - 1
Glasgow - 1
VCC
Likewise, 78 units and 68? diagrams.

There is nearly always a spare Voyager in the centre roads at Birmingham New
Street. Ok later that day it gets pushed into service , but during the day
its a 'thunderbird' set.

No spare units at Liverpool on weekdays. Except for units stabled overnight,
trains from Euston to Liverpool form the next departure back from Liverpool
to Euston.

I had a very informative trip to Central Rivers depot about a year ago, as
part of the Intercity Railway Society. The guide said that they usually have
about half of non-diagrammed units there for exams/maintenance etc. IIRC
there is a standby unit at BNS, and then a few more scattered around the
country, possibly at Laira, Craigentinny, Plymouth and Manchester?

I think you'll find there are more sets at Manchester as there is an ongoing
mods programme underway. In the past these were done at the ex-Eurostar
depot, but I'm not sure if this is still the case.
A difference between sets available for service or on light maintenance for
the next day and those completely out of service for major mods?

Laira *and* Plymouth? Isn't that a wee bit extravagant?

Laira is probably for minor work or cleaning, perhaps a refuel or something-
Plymouth is likely to be 'ready to run'
