Wtd: Tow bar
Hi All
Looking for a tow bar for a Honda CRV suitable for towing a large caravan.
Have been quoted 240 fitted and found one for 140 unfitted at
http://www.towbarsrus.com but I don't know how much it would cost to fit.
Seems very expensive to me, I'm sure the last one I had fitted was more like
50-60.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
Haymish

For £50-60 then I suspect it was a long time ago. The fitting of tow
bars has become more tightly regulated in recent years. My last one was
£140 fitted but that was on a Rover 600, no idea what a CRV would cost.

Try Ebay, that's where I got my last towbar for 15, OK it was for a 15 year
old car :-) from a private seller but there are often traders doing cheap
towbars there.

Try these from ebay. The complete kit at less than 100 quid inc del. I used
them about 12 months ago for my 406 estate and its good quality. Fitted
myself in about 2 hours and I have never done one before.
I think all new cars have the nessecary fixings on the car already as mine
did and the instructions were good too. You could give them a call and ask
how easy they are to fit.
You have nothing to loose in trying and if you struggle just take to
cheapest local garage for a ftting price.
Hope that helps.

Re: Tow bar
I hve no idea what an A fame is used for (I thought that was the bit at the
front of a caravan or trailer) Some cars are easier than others, some you
need to remove the bumper to get into drill holes. I offer the towbar up
under the car a hold it in place with a jack while im marking the position
of the holes and drilling. you should be able to complete the job in an
afternoon. including wiring the electrics.
