York-Doncaster HST or 91?
My no1 son wants a trip on an HST AND a 91 tomorrow from York.
1. What's the shortest trip I can do without wasting too much time for a
return? Doncaster or Northallerton?
2. What would the York-Donny trains be? HST or 91 - or either?
The current plan is to get the 12:31 York-Doncaster which gives me 13:14 and
13:21 for the return - perhaps one of these will be a HST and one a 91?
Regards,
Adrian

http://gner.co.uk/GNER/Traintimes/CurrentTimetable/
Gives power type so you can work out a journey from there. E is a 91. EMU is
a class 373 Eurostar used on Leeds services.
Hope he enjoys it,

Although GNER continue to use HSTs on trains which terminate to the north of
Edinburgh, be careful as many of these do not stop at Doncaster.
Probably the shortest journey you can accomplish by HST is from Brough to
Hull (about ten miles), but there is only one such train a day in each
direction.

Thanks John.
We're taking a trip to York NRM, so the HST/91 will be a detour from there.

Generally, trains to/from Inverness, Aberdeen, Hull, Skipton and
Bradford are HSTs, and trains terminating or starting at Newcastle,
Edinburgh, Glasgow are Leeds are _usually_ Class 91s.
There are loads more trains calling at Doncaster than Northallerton,
so that would be a better bet for a there-and-back.
