Talking of which, who owns/is responsible for the old pulman coach at
Finsbury Park, which has also been graffitied?

It used to owned by a firm called CIL, that had premises adjacent to
the old Stoneyard siding (which is where the Pullman is parked). They
were in the shopfitting/design business, and the car (Doris) was used
as a meeting room.

For a moment there I thought it said 'shoplifting'!
I believe that the pulman car was part of one of the Brighton Belle
sets, am I wrong?

I, too, have often wondered why shoplifters should advertise themselves on
a van. :-))

It's ironic but I don't ever recall seeing graffiti on *any* road vehicle,
but that may be due to better storage of these when not in use. Secure
storage for railway vehicles is not always easy to provide.

Doesn't seem to happen much here, but virtually every 'white van' in Paris
seems to get tagged. Problem in the UK would seem to be to get the paint to
stick to the layer of grime on the outside....

The far greater chance of receiving summary punishment (aka a right
good kicking) might be the main reason why graffiti on road vehicles
is almost non-existent.

I saw some on a pair of new-looking vans for the first time a few weeks
ago - on the truly grim approaches to Paris via the RER Metro.
I've long thought that it's acts of desecration against public property,
or equipment / buildings / services providing a public service, which
really justify flogging the perpetrators.

I have seen some on buses but more inside than out.
Also the occasional Artic trailer which I suppose like rail
vehicles can be left unattended and unobserved for a while.
That is for painted graffitti. Many will have observed the sometimes
quite humourous writings scribed in dirt on vans etc.
usually done by a workmates. "Also available in white" " I wish my
missus was this dirty" are a couple of common ones.
" Don't like my driving, Dial 999 " was one I saw taking the mickey of
those safe driving notices on commercial vehicles.

One I particularly enjoyed was 'Don't clean me - plant something'.

At the time there was all the fuss with Yorkshire Water (remember the
director who didn't have a bath?) someone reported seeing an absolutely
filthy white transit van in London with the inscription "Washed in
Yorkshire water".
