On the move
Spotted a class 20 going cab first up the A34 on a transporter this
morning just south of Newbury. Odd colour scheme, mainly orange with a
white or cream roof. The cab had a a four digit number on it, but I
couldn't see what it was.

Any ideas what it was and where it had come from / was going to ?

This will almost certainly be ex CFD ( France )2001 ( former 20035 )
or 2002 ( former 20063 )that have returned from France via Southampton
this morning.

That'll be one of the four Class 20s exported to France to work for CFD
Industrie in the 1990s, painted in a garish orange and white livery. After
spending several years out of use, all four have been purchased by a
consortium in the UK, and two of them were offloaded in Southampton this
morning. It is hoped that all four will be restored to working order to work
on heritage lines.

2001 / 20035 has been transported north from the docks to Goodman's yard
somewhere in the Sutton Coldfield area whilst 2002 / 20063 remains at
Southampton. 2004 / 20228 should be back in the UK in a few days.
