No terrestrial TV in Cambridge?
Does anyone know what happened in Cambridge last night? All the analogue
channels disappeared (although Five seemed to come back after an hour or
two), and I hear the digital ones did too. I've no idea when they came
back, cos I went to bed.

Reminds me of when a BBC transmitter was turned off by the local
electric board, when the BBC didn't pay the electric bill.
An administrative cock-up was the cause.

Are you talking here by any chance of Fareham MF?
When it went unmanned nobody thought about telling the Southern Electricity
Board that they had "moved out" and the bills started piling up on the
doormat until they were cut off ! :-)

You'd have thought that even if "unmanned" there would have been 3 monthly
visits, which would have led the bills being spotted. And, didn't the bills
go straight to Engineering Accounts anyway?

Yes it was Fareham, which if I'm correct was maintained by some staff
based at Crystal Palace, So nobody visited that often as roads between
Portsmouth and South London were awful at best.
I can just imagine some poor sod being told at 5pm to travel down
to Fareham in middle of rush hour. Down the old A3 through Guildford
in the middle of that commuter traffic.
IIRC. All Tx bills were paid by a section based at LBH.
