Gerrards Cross - the trains run again.
I have added a final page to the 'collapse' series which celebrates
the return of trains through Gerrards Cross. It is at

The series is an excellent example of a good use of WWW. Something
not commercially viable, but of interest to others.
I also think those involved have done a good job in restoring
services so quickly.

I will always explain revoked keys, unless the UK government
prevents me by using the RIP Act 2000.

Countless words at many bars of the second variety round GX. Indeed,
anywhere two or three are gathered together.

Tesco will be hoping they'll not be giving you the opportunity to add
'encore.html' to it.

Difficult to resist photoshopping a longbow into that chap's left hand,
and a quiver on his back, arrows hopefully with rubber suckers the size
of a camera lens, with a speech bubble: 'There he is, it's that Guy
Gorton again'.

Indeed.
Rewinding to the other end of the saga - the tunnel collapsed in the
early evening didn't it? Someone posted that the structure is designed
to accommodate was it 200 millimetres of movement at the crown while
under construction, but it then seems that there couldn't have been a
system in place to monitor this movement, because the tunnel surely
would have deflected relatively slowly before collapsing, and indicated
its intention by straying outside that 200 millimetre limit - but
presumably it didn't do this in a way that was visible to anyone. Even
the train drivers must have spent a day running trains beneath an
increasingly unhappy structure. Don't suppose it was the sort of
material to start ejecting tell tale fragments ...

Thanks, very interesting reading - and thanks for keeping us up to
date throughout with a superb quality of journalism.
I note that the ticket you show was discounted by 50% - are the
discounts remaining for a short time out of compensation, or could
that have been an error?
