Odd stock on GWML yesterday
Hi all,

I saw some very odd stock pass by while I was on the GWML yesterday (Friday
26th August).

1. While I was on the 1326 Twyford to Paddington, on the up reserve
between Twyford and Maidenhead, I saw something in the new southern livery
pass on the down reserve. It was tow units in the new southern livery, with
a slammer in the old connex livery sandwiched between them. There may have
been other stuff in front of that that didn't catch my attention soon
enough.

2. Ditto, between Burnham and Slough, something in what looked distinctly
like choclate & cream passed on the down reserve.

3. While travelling on the 1950 Paddington to Twyford on the down
reserve, somewhere between Ealing Broadway and Slough what looked like two
67s followed by carriages in virgin colours and others passed on the up
reserve.

I wouldn't have expected this many charters on a Friday afternoon/evening.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Michael

Probably slammers going to the breakers.

BTW, what most railways call the Slow Lines, and the Southern used to call
the Local Lines are, on the GWR, the Relief Lines (as opposed to Fast,
Through and Main respectively).

There are several charters this weekend, plus additional loco-hauleds
heading for Cardiff. What you probably saw were stock positioning moves for
todays trains, several were diagrammed for yesterday. EWS (operating as Rail
Charter Services) now base their charter stock at Old Oak Common depot.
