Galway - 2nd week in Sept - travel/accommodation advice
I've got to go to Galway in the second week of September and I'm looking to
travel from Leeds/Manchester.

Any advice on the cheapest travel & also some budget but OK accommodation
there?

I'm funding myself as work won't pay for a work trip!

Manchester > Galway and back via Aer Arann, depending on the day you travel,
fares are from 19.99 each way, including tax.

Tuesday 13th 19:30 MAN-GWY RE520 29.91
Tuesday 20th 13:30 GWY-MAN RE519 19.99

Thanks

Aer Arann seems to be the cheapest.

Hmm, go on, spill the beans, what company is that then - just so I know to
avoid them in future?

There's a shed load of backpacker places in the centre of town. Some much
better than others. Given that you will probably be on an Aer Arran flight,
I suggest you prebook at least 1 night as that will allow you to drop your
stuff off before heading out on the town.
Have a ganders at http://www.galway.net/ it's full of useful info.

Not drinking for a week beforehand might help as Galway is a top banana
place!

It's a university near Leeds.

Thanks - I've managed to sort out some decent accommodation for 20 a night,
together with a return flight to Shannon for 38. The Aer Arann flights
didn't fit the times I needed to be there.

Theres a really good hostel on Eyre Square and I think its called the
Great Western. Clean, spacious, modern and not at all noisy. Better
than most cheap hotels I've stayed in.
