Slam door today on Southern
I saw a Southern slam door train at Clapham Junction today, so last
Friday wasn't the last ever. I just missed it so I am not 100% certain
what service it was but if everything was on time it would have been
the 1747 from Victoria to Littlehampton.

SWT have 458s that can cover for Desiros. Southern don't.

SET no diagrams from 05 September (was Slam door today on Southern
Please be advised as of Monday 05 September the SET CWN shows NO
planned diagrammed work for Mk.1 EMU.
There will of course be continued use of Veps on selected trains as
needed on a week by week asis under Control or otherwise short term
arrangements.
The Cep 1698 should have been stopped (again) by then as far as
*normal* traffic use is concerned.
Thus the three corresponding dates of ending planned diagrammed use
are/were :
SWT, from April 04
SN from - August 22
SET 05 Septemer.
So the cynics who said they'de never do it are proved wrong.

I think that's the the reverse of the sequence in which orders were
placed for replacement stock, even taking into account 458s? Something
to do with ability to improve availability, or letting South Eastern
discover the teething problems?

It was getting late in a very long day, the possible urgency of the msg
seemed important enough to post even in gibber mode.

The 0747 Brighton to Victoria is still quite often formed as 12-VEP/CIG -
this morning, for instance.
